Wenmar Beef Shorthorns presents our Melody Family of beef shorthorn cattle. Our aim is to breed quality bulls and heifers suitable to carry the breed forward onto the next generation. Wenmar Beef Shorthorns are members of PCHS, and all our cattle carry a very high health status.
Photo taken October 2023. Melody F038 is our oldest cow and one which I hope spends all our days with us. She is probably our smallest cow but is definitely our best producer across the board. She has proven her mothering ability and now achieved a classification of EX92. She always does a great job on her calves and has added our herd great heifer calves in 2020 and
2021. In 2022 she produced us one of our two best bull calves. In 2023 she was first to calve and gave us another heifer, what more could we ask of her? F038 has a very quiet temperament and follows her mother's and grandmother's traits 100%, what a family line!

Photo taken October 2023. Melody T054 is another great heifer from F038. She was the second heaviest at weaning but was a little shy of the creep feeder in the first few days leading up to weaning. She again looks like her mother did at her age, what are we going to do with all these great Melody females? I know we will keep them all!
Myostatin Status: Awaiting Test

Photo taken October 2023. Melody R032 looks like being a chip of the old block so to speak. She is almost identical in every way to how her mother (F038) developed as a heifer. We intend to build back the strength of our Melody line and R032 sired by Wenmar Major will certainly be a keeper. She is due to calve in the spring as a 3 year old. We just hope that she is half as good as her mother has been over the years.
